Passion Plunge to Benefit Special Olympics Massachusetts
Saturday, February 11, 2006

Chief David Majenski and the 10th Class of the Weymouth Police Academy took the "plunge" this year to benefit the Special Olympics of Massachusetts and is reaching out for your help in sponsoring him in this great cause.

What is the Passion Plunge?
Our warm-hearted “Passion Plungers” brave the cold Atlantic waters to support Special Olympics Massachusetts. Plungers from all over Massachusetts (and beyond!) collect donations from family members, friends, and co-workers and then run head-first into the Atlantic Ocean.

About the Special Olympics:
The mission of Special Olympics Massachusetts (SOMA) is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of well-coached Olympic-type sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities by providing them with continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, prepare for entry into school and community programs, express courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics Athletes, and the community.

Special Olympics Massachusetts receives very little federal or state funding and is almost entirely dependant on individual and corporate donations to support its programs. No athlete ever pays a fee to participate in Special Olympics. Our goal is to reach out and increase the number of participants each year while maintaining the quality of our training programs and competitions already benefiting so many Massachusetts citizens with intellectual disabilities. Like any team, we can't do it alone.

People who are willing to sponsor Chief Majenski for this cause should mail their donation to:
